Taking Care of pearls is not so tricky. In fact, its quite simple to take care of your precious pearl jewelry. To keep their natural forms intact you just need some information on how to maintain them. There are many type of pearls and among them freshwater pearls are made from natural products called calcium carbonate. They are drawn from the natural water of lake or river by the mussel where pearl lives. Freshwater pearls are like living organisms and they should be treated with care and should be kept away from harsh chemicals and unclean environment.
There basic rules on how to take care of pearls and if you follow then you will be able to keep your pearls smooth and shining for generations.
The most important rule is that pearl should be the last thing to put on after you finish your grooming and a makeup routine; that includes keeping them away from perfume sprays and hair sprays. At the same time, you should take your pearls off even before you start removing your makeup.
Pearls should be kept in the silk jewelry pouch or velvet boxes with the separate compartments.
Do not throw pearls into other jewelry or pearls will soon lose their luster and sparkle.
Do not put the pearl box on the top of fire places, television sets or other heat emitting devices otherwise they will get scratched or damaged.
Store the strung pearls flat so that they won’t stretch when wear them.
The best place of pearl is on “your neck”, this is because it allows the pearls a chance to breath in natural environment and moreover it is believed that the warmth and slight amount of body oil keeps the pearl looking even more lustrous.
Do not clean the pearl with any other potent chemical or cleaning fluids. Try to clean it with the solution that provided by the jewelers along with the pearl jewelry.
If the pearls are old and the luster has become dull then wipe them with soft clamp cloth. Spear some olive oil on them to make them shine.
