Mabe Pearls

Mabe pearls are hemispherical shaped pearls. They are grown intentionally, by using a hemispheric nucleus, rather than a round one. Then implant it against the oyster's shell, not within its tissue. The pearl then develops in a hemispheric form with a flat back.

The genuine mabe pearl in the picture is about 13mm in AAA grade. They have high luster without much irregularity. Mabe pearls can be fully drilled, side half drilled and bottom half drilled to make pearl earrings, rings, pendants and even bracelets.
