Pearl Jewelry findings: clasps

To finish off the beaded and wired jewelry mostly 'findings' are used. Findings are not of just one or two type, they are available in numerous designs and styles. Findings are term collectively used for ear wires, clasps, jump rings and many more. When you are making any kind of jewelry, flow of the design is very important, clasps are very important for maintaining that flow. The most common type of pearl clasps is 'spring ring clasps’; this is round clasps with small leaver that controls functioning of the clasps. These clasps can have solid design or it can have filigree design. There are many different filigree designs are available, the most commonly used is flower design.

Ball styled clasps are usually used in pearl jewelry. If pearl necklace is secured with ball clasps, then pearls and clasps appear in harmony. Therefore, the flow of the design can be easily maintained. This ball clasps can be smooth surface clasps or ball can have beautiful twist design.

Side insert clasp has round or square box like shape that is hollow on the inside. On other part of clasp has flat tab. for closing the clasp, tab is inserted in the box until it is securely closed. This type of clasp is especially used for expensive jewelry as it adds some extra strength to the jewelry. The lobster claw clasp is tradition style of the clasp; it is usually used for securing bracelet and necklaces. A tip that opens and closes the spring in the clasps controls this clasp.

The toggle clasps, has on bar shaped narrow piece which is pushed through the metal loop. This clasps is little expensive than other type of clasps but it is very attractive. All these clasps are available in many different metals like sterling silver, yellow gold, and white gold.
