Coin pearls
Coin pearls, as the name suggests are usually flat in shape like a coin. These pearls are harvested for uniform shape and stand among the luxurious qualities in pearls. They have a unique luster and polish due to which they are widely used mostly for which is jewelry. Coin pearls are a freshwater type pearl.
The different types of coin pearls are:
• White brick coin pearls are brick shaped with a white luster. They are usually side drilled into strands. Their size is 14x7mm.
• Lengthy oval coin pearls- their average size is about 22x13mm and they have a very thick nacre. These pearls may vary from strand to strand but all of them have a very bright luster. They also contain some natural nodules.
• Perfect pink brick coin pearls are pearls that are rich in luster and are peachy pink in color. Each pearl differs in characteristics but are approximately 22x11mm and are 6-7mm thick. Some pearls may be darker then others. They have a very thick nacra.
• Ivory coin pearls- silvery white bright luster, are around 13-14mm in size with AA quality.
• Natural peach coin pearls- these are A+ grade pearls. Usually is 9-10 mm in size. These are valuable and posses a nice luster.
• Square coin pearls with nodelles- these are silvery white in color. They have thick nacre and a beautiful luster. They are not easily available. Size is 10-12 mm plus nodelle.
• Coin pearls “on the pinker” side- as the name suggests are pinkish in color with nice luster. Around 13-14 mm in size.
• Green coin pearls-they are a type of fancy pearls with good luster, about 12-13mm in size. Some of them are 13-14mm in size.
• Mini coin pearls (Gold) - golden in color with luster. Size is 8.5-9 mm.
• Mini coin pearls (Green) – these pearls are popular and are in demand due to their great greenish luster. Size varies from 8.5 to 9 mm.
• Peachy coin pearls- these pearls are bigger in size, around 14-15mm in size. Color may vary with the strand. Some of these are not in a proper round shape but have very thick nacre.
• Fresh water pearl crosses- they have a cross like shape with peacock luster. These types are very unusual and are 9x14mm in size.
