Tips for Buying Pearls
While choosing pearls, take into consideration some facts like:
high lusterand quality, surface sheen and even coloration, and there should not be any blemishes.
To check roundness roll the strand on a smooth surface and roll carefully. Check uniformity, see to that all the pearls from the jewelry are of same size, color and have a uniform luster.
Select the color of your Pearls according to your own skin tone. A pearl has many different colors like white, yellow, black, and grey, with various overtones like shades of blue and black. The pearls color can be natural or dyed. Natural colored pearls are more expensive than dyed pearls.
Decide if you want an entire set or just a piece. If you buy a necklace, and later decide you want to buy matching earrings or a bracelet, then it would be very difficult to get unless dyed. Examine and compare pearl strands always on a white or champagne colored, non-reflective surface.
To notice the difference between imitation pearls and real pearls, just rub the pearls against your teeth very gently if they feel slightly gritty then they are real, natural, or cultured pearls. If they feel smooth and slippery, then those pearls are not real.
