How will you take care of pearls?
Pearl is an organic gem made up of calcium carbonate, pearl require more specialized care than other gems. They are specifically subject to declining of their surface from contact with chemicals including components in household cleaners, perfumes, cosmetics and all other chemical products.
Most important thing about pearl care is that never expose your pearls to any kind of chemicals including your perfume or body spray, cosmetics and hair sprays. Always wear your pearl jewelry after make up, when you are just about to leave. These harsh chemicals can damages your pearls
Pearl surface is very soft and can easily be damaged. Pearls suffer more from scuffing or friction when they are to be studded into the brooches, earrings, necklaces or strands.
Precautions to maintain the blaze of pearl:
- Pearl ring or bracelet should be considered as special occasion jewelry and not to be worn daily.
- Never apply perfume or hairspray when you are wearing pearl jewelry and especially a strand of pearls.
- Pearl strand should be stock up separately from others because its surface is very delicate and soft.
- Never store pearls in plastic bag. Sometimes plastic emits a chemical that may deteriorate its surface.
- Don’t keep them with paper documents or after some period these documents will dry out the pearl.
- Pearl strand should be stored straight in the box instead of hanging it so that the string won’t get stretched.
- Clean it up with mild soap and natural bristle brush after that rinse it with cold water for 5 minutes.
- Don’t use detergents, any household cleaner, commercial jewelry cleaners or tarnish removers on pearl jewelry.
- Never use pearl cleaning brush for any other purpose keeps it well after use. Something that will summaries all these do’s and don’ts, is pearl should be ”The Last Thing You Put On” while dressing and “The First Thing You Take off” when you return home.
